 THE COVER: 

Truly Beautiful Los Angeles #6 Mono Butcher Cover

We have had a marvelous run this last month of fabulous pristine butchers.  The streak continues with this incredible cover.  Please take the time to read all about this one - it truely has a stupendous quality peel that looks first-state in appearance! 

ULTRA RARE AND TRUELY STUNNING  Los Angeles #6 Mono Butcher Cover repasted at the Jacksonville pressing plant.  VERY RARE for several reasons - 

1.  There were Beatles Butcher covers produced as first-states at the Jacksonville, IL plant, but just a handful of first states have survived.  They would have a #4 near the  RIAA number on the rear of the cover.  THERE ARE NO KNOWN REPASTINGS OF JACKSONVILLE STEREO OR MONO BUTCHER COVERS.  No true second state Jacksonville butchers have ever turned up! 

2.  However, several hundreds of recalled Los Angeles butchers were sent to the Jacksonville, Illinois plant for repasting with the common trunk cover for release in the midwest music market.  Not very many Jacksonville paste overs are turning up today, and when they do, the method and glue they used to repaste these butchers is extremely difficult to peel without damaging the original slick underneath.  Most peeled Jacksonville repastings look flat and yellowed at the very least. That is one reason why you see some on Ebay that are just mutilated and "butchered"! 

3. This particular cover was apparently repasted after the glue had all but dried on the trunk cover slick, and therefore, barely adhered to the butcher slick underneath. Now what makes this cover so fantastic is that Jacksonville repastings that can be peeled have no lines as on a Scranton, nor any possible circle impressions like you might find on a Los Angeles repasting.  This has left an incredibly beautiful near perfect first-state looking butcher slick underneath!  This one is as close you will ever get to a first-state butcher without paying the big bucks ($4,000 PLUS)!  It is truely a beautiful peice!  GUARANTEED!   

The colors on this butcher exceptional.   The pictures with this auction allow you to see the incredible fine dot matrix texture of the original butcher slick that has been exposed.  Look at the detail on the picture of the Beatles. You can see that finite detail of that dot matrix printing!   The detail is stunning.  Often times, excessive glue residue from amatuer peels, or very difficult to peel butchers makes this detail hard to see.  Excessive glue residue also dulls the color of the butcher giving  a yellowish cast to the overall color.  That is not an issue here. The color on this butcher is vivid - stunning would not be an exageration. Look at the finite detail of that dot matrix printing!  These dot matrix lithos have a unique hue to them that makes a butcher cover look even more magical in person.  I know I have mentioned it before, but I repeat, the peel on this one really did turn out fantastic.

The seams are in gorgeous physical shape - beautiful milky white without any splits!  The corners are nice and square.   The printing on the spine is clean, clear, and unusually crisp.    

The printing on the back is all there, bold and black, and contrasts very nicely with the bright white of the surrounding cover. The clean and nice white back of this cover is a rare feature not found on many butchers.  Most are yellowed, stained, or have writing.  NOT THIS ONE!  There is a small scuff on the middle portion of the back of the jacket.  Inconsequential and very discreet. (Won't show up in pics)  A truely amazing butcher! 

Included is a very nice Yesterday and Today trunk cover slick that has peeled extremely well.  Would look great framed with this truely world class butcher. 

 Please be aware that every butcher is like a diamond - rarely are two ever remotely alike in all the investment features they offer.   RARELY have we ever had a perfect butcher.  Each cover has its strengths and weaknesses.  I strive to keep the latter at a minimum.  I can tell you butchers of this quality are hard to come by!  This is an outstanding offering.

The peel on this butcher was done by the master himself - Jim Hansen at Blue Jay Way Galleries - who is recognized as world's leading butcher artist.  Jim is our exclusive butcher artist, and all of our butchers are done in beautiful detail by him!  You will not find a better peeled butcher anywhere!  He has been peeling butchers since 1971, and has made butcher restoration a true form of art!
