BLACK SABBATH experimented with their sound on this 1972 album, developing textured tunes like Wheels of Confusion; Tomorrow's Dream , and Changes , but still managed to stay true to the Sabbath sound featuring one of their heaviest tracks ever in "Supernaut" ... Perhaps Volume 4 is Sabbath's most underrated album, but in actuality is far more satisfying than the simplistic 'Paranoid' and even darker than the grim 'Master of Reality'. The power of this album is that it is not as radio-accessible as previous Sabbath releases. Tony Iommi's muffled and distorted guitar(s) are in rare form on this album -- almost a constant electric buzz (except for one heartfelt acoustical masterpiece that is probably Iommi's best ballad to date - "Laguna Sunrise"). "Vol. 4" was original titled "Snowblind" but due to the obvious reference to cocaine it was considered an unsuitable album title by Warner Bros. Tracks that open the eyes wide, include "Snowblind", "Supernaut", the 8 minute "Wheels of Confusion" and "Tomorrow's Dream" (the first hit released from the album). But that's just the start as there are no bad tracks on either side and overall the songs are memorable which overall makes for a pretty special album.

CONDITION: The cover: The dark gatefold cover is super hard to find without wear - here a very decent first time score - a collection copy - rated "EX" (excellent) all stiff and sharp, no bends, no split seams, no writing and no delete marks ...hard to find a better 43 year old copy!
The vinyl: all smooth and clear over both sides, rated M- looks and plays BEAUTIFUL CLEAN ...both WHITE PROMO WB labels are CLEAN ...
** note the photo pages have some light minor wear at bottom of pages (see photo 3 = minor!)
