Description
original first pressing of the beatles second lp in the very rare stereo format.
The catalogue number is PCS 3045 and the matrix numbers are YEX 110-2 and YEX 111-2 Mother stampers are 1 RD and 1A
LP HAS THE JOBETE CREDIT ON SIDE 2 FOR TRACK 7 MONEY WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOMINION THIS WAS QUICKLY CORRECTED TO SHOW THE CORRECT CREDIT AND THEREFORE THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY EARLIEST PRESSINGS BEFORE THE LABEL CORRECTION
BOTH THE LP AND THE COVER RECORD SIDE 2 TRACK THREE AS "YOU REALLY GOTTA HOLD ON ME" THIS WAS ALSO A LABEL ERROR WHICH WAS QUCIKLY CORRECTED AND IT SHOULD AHVE BEEN "YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME" THE SONGS CORRECT TITLE - ALL OF THE ABOVE SHOW THAT THIS IS THE VERY EARLIEST STEREO PRESSING
IN ADDITION THE COVER IS TOTALLY THE CORRECT COVER WITH THE LARGE STEREO ON THE TOP RIGHT - SOME TRY AND PASS OFF THE SMALL OR MEDIUM SIZED STEREO AS A FIRST PRESSING WHEN THIS IS INCORRECT - TOTALLY ORIGINAL VERY EARLIEST STEREO PRESSING .
The original cover has the 3 flipbacks which were used in packaging 1960's pressings of lps. all of the flipbacks are firmly stuck down and have not lifted. they are free from damage. the bottom flipback has the following wording "Printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending PMC 1206 PCS 3045". The lettering on the spine of the lp is fully intact and clear. the front part of the cover is laminated and is in very good condition for its near 50 years of age. the front cover shot has the inky black cover which shows the faces of the beatles as very dark. it has not been lightened as was done for later pressings. this shows the cover is a genuine first pressing cover. t the cover is in very good condition and retains much of its orginal shine. there is some minor wear to the cover but it is still a really nice example considering its age. the back cover is not laminated and does have light discoloration but it is just from general handling and age.
the lp comes housed in its original emi emitex inner sleeve which is in really clean condition and freefrom any damage there are no splits or creases to the inner sleeve and the poly lining is fully intact. has the lettering "made in england" and "patents applied for"
the vinyl lp has the necessary "recording first published 1963" notation on the left hand side at 9.00 oclock. also the "Parlophone Co Ltd" rim text and "Made in Gt Britain". the labels are nice and clean and have only the very faintest of spindle marks on side one and no spindle marks on side two. the centre hole is free from and damage which shows the lp has only been lightly played and carefully so.
the lp has a very obvious deep glossy shine across the playing surface on both sides of the lp. i have examined the record in natural daylight and under a bright light and there is only a few of the very faintest lightest hairlines which are genuinely only handlng marks. the vinyl visually is in exceptional conditions. Beatles albums from the sixties were normally heavily played this lp has barely been played and it shows.
while visually the lp is in exceptional condition the audio quality is also in stunning condition. i have listened to the lp from start to finish on bothe sides prior to listing and the sound is near mint condition playback. there is virtually no surface noise. there are no nasty pops clicks or similar and no obvious wear to the record. as stated record has only been lightly played probably no more than a handful of times during its 49 year history.
the lp lies perfectly flat and is free from any warping etc it is an original 60's pressing on good quality heavyweight vinyl - as before the audio quality is really exceptional for a beatles lp of this age.
