Wishbone Ash : Wishbone Ash 1st Press 1970 Pink / Red 'Dogbone' MCA Label

This first pressing plays with stunning quality and there is no interference.  Having listened to both sides in full I can confirm the clarity and power of the audio is so impressive and there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static getting in the way of the audio.  The two classic extended tracks on S2 are superb!  The vinyl is visually stunning also with no marking and with barely any spindle wear I suspect it has only been lightly played, the sonic quality certainly suggests that!

The cover is in excellent order with only minimal wear and is still strong and robust, it has held its shape perfectly.  The poly-lined Foreign patents pending inner sleeve is also in superb condition with no obvious wear.

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a stunning glossy look with no marks or scratches.  S1 has a small number of faint hairlines with a couple kind of adjacent to each other but of course they are purely superficial.  S2 is superb!  It is so clean with barely any hairlines and there is no groove or surface wear on either side.  The JT tax stamp can easily be seen on the S2 run off.

Play grading  

The run in on S1 is so clean and then the intro on 'Blind Eye' plays perfectly as does the opening vocal section.  It continues to impress and the mid instrumental is superb.  There is no interference and the audio definition is first class.  The brief silent moments throughout this track are exactly that, totally silent with no background at all.  The next vocal is faultless and to the end it plays with stunning quality.  A Mint start to the album for sure.

With complete silence in the dead wax 'Lady Whisky' plays with phenomenal audio from the get go.  Every section is so strong and powerful and the original sonic is still very much in evidence.  The long instrumental passage is a case in point, it demands to be played loud!  Superb guitar work here.  Mint all the way.

A shift in tone and the intro / opening vocal on 'Errors Of My Ways' plays with outstanding clarity and warmth and the following instrumental is just as strong.  It continues in the same precise way with no ticks, clicks, pops or static - it just could not play any better.  Another stunning solo and the final vocal section / instrumental keep up the good work.  Another Mint track with literally no background and not even one dust tick on the fade out.

The powerful intro on 'Queen Of Torture' plays loud and rock with only a minor hint of inner groove distortion maybe?  Very very minimal.  The first vocal has no intrusion and thereafter plays with very impressive audio.  There is no interference and Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.

The very quiet bass intro on 'Handy' plays with stunning clarity, there are a couple of minor statics, and as this instrumental progresses the clarity of sound does not diminish.  Powell and Turner working so well together and the next quiet bass piece is on the same level.  The second section plays with real quality and I cannot overstate just how STUNNING the playback is, no way on this earth is there a cleaner version than this!  Upton's solo is 'as new' and the eventual vocal has no intrusion either.  For a 55 year old record the sonic quality is unbelievable!  The final 'jazzy' section has no background and I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint as it just could not play with any greater precision.

The opening instrumental on 'Phoenix' plays without fault and the first vocal passage has no background of any kind, just pure clean clinical audio.  It continues in the same way and once again I can only compliment the sound quality.  The guitar sections play with great power and barely any inner groove distortion and the high octane passage plays with phenomenal quality.  You can see why this is a live favourite!  It drives along at such pace and the sonic quality is superb.  There is perhaps a little distortion on the final section but in a way distortion doesn't seem like the right word for it.  It still sounds fantastic.  The final vocal is perfect and the closing section is just as strong and clear.  I will say this ranges between Near Mint and Mint it really is a superb version of this all time classic.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear.  Only the bottom edge of the back cover has a little rubbing in one area and the spine remains strong with barely any wear.  All corners are in great shape and the opening edge is very clean with only minor feathering at the top and bottom.  The only issue with the front cover is an intermittent white scuff line and a couple of small faint marks both near the bottom edge.  The back cover has only one minor speck and the inside of the gatefold is super clean with only some creasing / lifting to the left of the inner spine which you often see.  A very strong example overall.

The poly-lined Foreign patents pending inner sleeve is in superb condition with no side splits or tears and only a little creasing.  Some minor edge marking caused by the glue showing through, it can't be avoided!

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
