This from my personal collection and being an avid colletor of these MCA label variations! Please note! Purchased from new and originally only ever played to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records! This features the earliest matrix on both sides! (having no prefix at the end of the matrix) Please note, not to be confused with the later labeled MCA variation which has -3L matrix endings. (
please note, there are three label variations that feature the earliest no prefix matrixes. The Black textured labels,blue/black labels and red/pink variation,) These label variations were also used with later pressings. The audio is truly stunning throughout! One of the best that I have heard of this pressing truly top on all frequencies! This is complete with the original blue stereo Decca record sleeve and the 1st issue Robert Stace gatefold cover, earliest 1st issue with the white box with track listings at the rear! Wishbone Ashes 1st album released in the UK in 1970, an awesome progressive rock album. I have seen Wishbone Ash live many times through the years and I believe that these are one of the best live groups, still around to this day!

Wishbone Ash are a British rock band who achieved particular success in the early and mid-1970s with their most critically acclaimed records including Wishbone Ash (1970), Argus (1972), There's the Rub (1974) and New England (1976). Although the band lacked a definitive vocalist like Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) or Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), they were famous for inventing and popularising the twin lead guitar!
Formed in my home town of Devon in 1969 out of the ashes of the group The Empty Vessels, which had featured Wishbone Ash's founding members Martin Turner (bass/vocals) and Steve Upton (drums and percussion), the original line-up was completed by guitarists/vocalists Andy Powell and Ted Turner. In 1974 Ted Turner left the band and was replaced by Laurie Wisefield. The band managed to soldier on with strong critical and commercial success, until 1980 when co-founder and co-frontman Martin Turner left, because the band wanted to relegate him to bass duties only!!!.
After revolving line-up featuring former members from King Crimson, Trapeze and Uriah Heep, Laurie Wisefield quits in 1985!
In 1987 however, the original line-up reunited for a couple of albums, until 1990, when Steve Upton quit the band. After Martin Turner was replaced in 1991 and Ted Turner quit in 1993, Andy Powell decided to form a new version of the band, where Powell would operate Wishbone Ash as a personal business venture and employ musicians on a session basis, rather than the band as a group. Since 1995, the "band" have continued with mixed critical and commercial success again frequently changing members on studio albums. There have not been two consecutive records recorded by the same line-up since 1989!!!.
Rarest ever label variation! and superbe top! audio throughout! very very collectable and sought after!!

The vinyl
Super thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on earliest pressings! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!
On initial inspection this looks awesome still looks as good as the day it was purchased from new! I can hardly see a blemish on the playing surface, Still retains its original sheen from new! Only in strong light can possibly any (very few) light whispy surface marks possibly be seen, which would be sleeve removal only (To be honest I find it hard to see any at all) at least there are no needle or indeed any audio sounding marks that would cause any clicks or pops!
The Audio Quality
I have played this through track for track prior to listing! The audio is rated at the very top on all frequencies! it is awesome! (no) distortion or any signs of any grooveware at all! I heard no loud clicks or pops and more importantly i heard no major background noise so common on these early pressings! This plays almost perfect on my system! Audio grades as near mint! Archive copy never need upgrade!
Please note I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated static (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 37 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 37 year old system! THIS IS RATED AT THE VERY TOP! ON ALL FREQUENCIES!
Please note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 35 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks. A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!
You will be hard pressed to find a better sounding original!
The Matrix
side 1. ''7-224'' (look no prefix at the endings)EARLIEST EVER!
side 2. ''7-225''(look no prefix at the endings) EARLIEST EVER!
The Mother Stampers!
Side 1.''2 D'' ''D A'' (VERY VERY EARLIEST EVER)
Side2. ''1'' ''U U'' (VERY VERY EARLIEST EVER)
The Labels
Blue/Black MCA labels in superbe condition. Only angled to the light can I barely see a whyspy spider mark or two only!! This has barely ever been played at all, certainly no more than a hand ful of times only! Little if (no) spindle ware (the spindle hole is perfectly round)
The Record Sleeve
This is the original Stereo Decca sleeve (no) splits or tares just light yellowing/creasing with age only!
The Cover
This is the original EARLIEST 1ST PRESS unlaminated WIDE SPINED ROBERT STACE gatefold cover in superbe TOP TOP TOP condition throughout! Please note! Only the earliest of these covers feature the track listings at the rear (with the white box)! (VERY RARE TO FIND) There are no splits or tares and no nasty names written. (NO) real nasty creases can be seen just very light odd crease at the spine end only and if scrutinized there is some crushing at the spine that is noticed. (hardly worth to worry about in my opinion) Amaizingly no real rubbing to mention almost impossible to find like this! This is strong and straight, at first glance looks near perfect and this is the original! Absolutely superbe WIDE spine (ONLY 1ST PRESS) writing can be read clearly! Try to find another like this!! Graded at least excellent plus! Very very rare to find like this! Archive Copy, Never Need Uprade!
