Description
Here is a great sealed vintage 1969 lp called "Honky Tonk Women" by the California Poppy-Pickers.
This is actually the uncredited vinyl debut of Christian psych legends Wilson McKinley.
"For reasons unknown, the fourth and final California Poppy Pickers album featured an entirely different lineup:"
"Singer/guitarist Mike Messer, singer/bassist Don Larson, guitarist Randy Wilcox, and drummer Tom Slipp were, in reality, a Christian rock band called the Wilson McKinley, and they used the proceeds from their lone Alshire date to fund a three-song single." -allmusic.com
"Quite good exploito hippie underground rock. 'Sabre Dance' uses envelope follower to great effect and 'Brick Walls' is an outstanding anti-war anthem."
Since the record is sealed, I coudn't listen to it, but there are some pseudo-Christian songs on it: Get Together, Put A Little Love In Your Heart, I Shall Be Released, and perhaps Brother's Advice.
Songs like Honky Tonk Women, Born On the Bayou, and Proud Mary are presumably garagier.
Prize for weirdest song goes to the rock version of "Sabre Dance" by Khatchaturian.
Producer Gary S. Paxton, of "Monster Mash" fame, also later became a Jesus freak.

Great colorful psychedelic Art Nouveau cover.
Sealed and mint, except for a tiny amount of mould on some cover corners beneath the shrink.
A reasonable starting price, considering that later Wilson McKinley albums go for over 200 dollars.
I see the first California Poppy-Pickers album, "Hair", all the time, but number 4? Never.
Still mint and sealed after 38 years.
I'm guessing this is the best surviving example in the World of Christian rock's origin.
