The Albums:
A.M., the debut album from Wilco, the new band formed by singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy with three of his band mates following the break-up of alt-country pioneers Uncle Tupelo, continued that older group's brand of updated country-rock (emphasis on "rock") and emotionally powerful songwriting. Power-poppy, bittersweet, alt-country driven tunes like “I Must Be High" and "Casino Queen" suitably set the mood for the album.
BEING THERE, Wilco's follow-up to A.M., is an ambitious, double album of 19 songs that The
Independent compared favorably to the Rolling Stones' Exile On The Main Street. Featuring more surrealistic and introspective writing than their previous album, BEING THERE juxtaposed the alternative country styles songs reminiscent of Uncle Tupelo with psychedelic, surreal songs.
THE WHOLE LOVE is the first album Wilco is releasing on its own dBpm Records. The result is a veritable sonic stew, showcasing Wilco’s far-reaching musical prowess (multiple guitars, keyboards, synthesizers and percussion plus Mellotron, strings, loops and more) that perfectly accompany Jeff Tweedy’s provocative and insightful lyrics. This vinyl version includes a bonus track not available on the regular full-length album.
