Description
AN ISSUE OF BLACK ECHOES FROM SEPTEMBER 22ND 1979 FEATURING AN EIGHT PAGE WIGAN CASINO SPECIAL CENTRE SECTION.
This BE edition is great snapshot of our Northern Soul/Jazz Funk lives at that point...I visited the Casino for the first time shortly after this edition, so I found it very nostalgic.
I have posted shortened pics of the Casino Special centre spread which include many interviews, playlists etc and, of course, there are also the regular features within the magazine; the charts, interviews, record listings, club reviews etc etc...lots of reading, I swear you’ll be back in ‘79 for a spell.
Echoes was cheaper and more streetwise than the generally London-centric Blues & Soul, it always had better arguments in the letters page from NS people that you actually knew, not just Kev from Sussex who loved Curtis Mayfield ????
It is generally in very good condition, there is a little bit of splitting to the edges of some pages but can be trimmed if you are thinking of framing any of them, which is what tends to happen with this edition.
Rare now?
For sure!! - how many throw away copies of Black Echoes have survived to today?
That’s just short of forty years?
Not many I’d say.
Expensive?
Find another ????
