Laminated front non-flipback sleeve... super rare private press / micro press... on the Nicro label... the same label as the super rare Ferris Wheel. This copy has the Mecolico tax stamp stuck to side 1, likely to indicate a quantity of over 100 copies.
Signed on the reverse by some of the group (a couple not known), one dedicated to "Cousin Pam".
The name of the group "Witness Gospel Band" does seem a little misleading... as it conjures up thought of a gospel church group... but that isn't the case with this record.
I have found reference to this record on the "Ancient Star Song" website which provides a good insight into many Christian albums and records of "Music Of The Jesus Era".
"Charming unknown British male/female folk custom from East Anglia, England. This is the edgier more interesting variety of UK folk, echoing the home-grown style of groups like Aslan, Carpenter’s Apprentice and Sanctus. From guitar/banjo pickers (‘I’m Gonna Write A Song’, John Denver’s ‘Grandma’s Feather Bed’) to upbeat ?ute-accompanied acoustic janglers (‘Sussex Carol’, ‘Building A Wall’, ‘Are You Walking’) to simple guitar ballads (‘Halos Of Gold’). Dreamy ?ute, resonating finger cymbals and fragile harmonies bring an entrancing folk/psych mood to “White Dove’, a direct bulls-eye on the sound of those big dollar UK privates. Other instruments include auto-harp, mandolin and bongos. They do a couple songs off fellow countrymen The Advocates ?rst album: ‘Miracle’ and ‘No Man’s Land’, the latter a boogie blues-rocker with entertaining primitive electric rhythm guitar. Includes covers of John Stewart’s ‘Armstrong’ and Peter, Paul & Mary’s ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’. Also known as The Witness Gospel Band. "
