WHALES: Come down little bird/Beachcomber (CBS 3766, U.K. 1968)
Great catchy harmony pop 45 by this rather unknown U.K. 60’s outfit. “Come down little bird” was written/produced by Mark Wirtz and Chas Mills and was included on the limited “Mark Wirtz Pop Works” CD. The song was also recorded the next year by the group The Wrigleys. The B-side “Beachcomber” is another gorgeous pop song, pretty much in the same vein. The group has at least one more single on CBS….that’s all I know.
