Description
This is a fine copy of the third LP, and second for the Reprise label, by L.A. group the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, released in late 1967. As far as personnel were concerned at least, the group was strange even by the standards of the time: the Harris brothers, Dan and Shaun, teens from a well-off family, and a wealthy lawyer and son of an Oklahoma oil tycoon named Bob Markley. (Wunderkind producer Michael Lloyd was in the pre-Reprise version of the group as well, and would return for one of their late LPs.) Their second Reprise LP doesn't have as many high points as its predecessor, but features their best known song, "Smell of Incense," which became a hit for Texas group Southwest F.O.B. It also has the delicate pop of "Queen Nymphet," the jazzy "Tracy Had a Hard Day Sunday," and a few more experimental tracks on side 1 that are more successful than their earlier cover of "Help, I'm a Rock." The jacket is close to pristine (M-). The disc is clean, and plays with occasional light surface noise (EX+).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
