Description
This is a fine copy of the second LP, and major-label debut by L.A. group the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, released in 1967. As far as personnel were concerned at least, the group was strange even by the standards of the time: the Harris brothers, Dan and Shaun, teens from a well-off family, and a wealthy lawyer and son of an Oklahoma oil tycoon named Bob Markley. (Wunderkind producer Michael Lloyd was in the pre-Reprise version of the group as well, and would return for one of their late LPs.) The first Reprise LP is one of the group's most consistent. Highlights include the chiming folk-rock of "Transparent Day" and "Here's Where You Belong," the folk-inflected psych rocker "Shifting Sands," the pretty orchestrated pop song "Will You Walk With Me," and an instrumental version of Van Dyke Park's "High Coin." The one misstep to my ear, an unfortunate version of of the Mothers of Invention's "Help, I'm a Rock," was released as the first single off the album. Go figure. The jacket has light ring wear and scuffing, and light edge wear (EX). The disc is clean with some light scraping and scuffing, and plays with some light surface noise -- EX(-). A previous owner's name is written in pen on the side 1 label (see photo). The record comes with the original label inner sleeve.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
