WEBSTER, QUEBEC, CHRISTIAN, et al, “Mellow Is The Mood” 10” Blue Note Records 5001, “P”, DG, Flat Rim, 1951 original vinyl.
This is the 1951 first-edition, 10”, Frame Cover, Flat Rim, mono, Deep Groove, “P”-pressing of “Mellow Is The Mood” on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 5001. Musicians include Barney Bigard, Ben Webster, Buck Clayton, Charlie Christian, Ike Quebec, Oscar Pettiford, Sidney Catlett, Tiny Grimes, Tyree Glenn.
VINYL has consistent low to medium level surface noise. Instruments are reproduced rich and clear, however, with no distortion, no warps, no skips. An original pressing of this 10-inch Blue Note classic. A handful of hairline marks but no feelable scratches. Full tone and superb dynamics. The Deep Grooved 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels are clean with minimal spindle marks.
.LAMINATED Frame Cover is in excellent condition. Solid colors and inking. No spine splits. One-inch seam split at both lower jacket opening and at corner. See photos. Corners moderately worn. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge/Music Hall Moo Mat, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with revealing ribbon tweeters). All vinyl cleaned on a VPI 16.5.
