WAYNE SHORTER - NIGHT DREAMER
Rare 1964 U.S. Blue Note MONO 1st pressing
Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - completely flat, weighty and retaining much of it's original and impressive jet black sheen. No hairlines, scratches or obvious scuff marks, just a few extremely faint paper scuff lines only identifiable when viewed closely under a bright light, along with some occasional and intermittent dulling/shadowing mostly towards and within the run-off's on each side. All non-feelable and obviously strictly surface only, purely superficial and not really detectable in normal light or impinging upon the impressive MONO sound quality. The all important 1st press Plastylite "ear" and "VAN GELDER" stamp are easily identifiable in both run-offs. Excellent (EX) condition labels : difficult to make out any spindle trails at all on either label, suggesting that this record has been sparingly played, and the "NEW YORK USA" blue text is clearly visible. The only blemish I can detect is an extremely thin 3cm score line on the side 1 label - so thin and innocuous in fact that you will have to look very closely in a very good light to identify it! Solid very good (VG) condition non-laminated outer sleeve manufactured from nice thick cardboard and with impressively firm edges throughout. There are a few minor blemishes : a clearly noticeable but small scuff mark towards the front-side top corner where presumably a label once presided, some intermittent light edge scuffing which is a little more obvious towards the corners, a non-obvious 4cm seam split in the middle of the top edge, a very light 12cm diagonal surface crease/crinkle towards the front-side bottom left corner and a similar 5cm surface crinkle towards the bottom right corner, and on the reverse the occasional very light surface handling/storage/age marks but no blemish of any real significance. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle, there are no edge splits, no unwanted writing and the colours, art work and text all remain vibrant with clear definition. The spine remains rigid and with all spine text nicely intact and perfectly legible. Highly presentable and pretty good considering it's 60 year antiquity! Excellent (EX) MONO audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks (apart from x5 very light background clicks at the very end of A1 for which I can find no obvious reason...could be a tiny manufacturing "dot"), distortion, or interference and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - negligible in fact, with the only hint of crackle during a couple of the intermissions and during the side 2 run-off. Every track remains a great listen and no wonder with jazz legends Wayne Shorter (tenor sax), Lee Morgan (trumpet), McCoy Tyner (piano), Reginal Workman (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums) each at the top of their game. Comes with plain white inner sleeve. One of the hardest to find U.S. Blue Note 1st press rarities.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
