The complete original radio broadcast war of the world starring Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre on the air. Exactly as heard on CBS radio October 30, 1938. Radio play by Howard KOCH suggested by the HG Wells novella.
From the album interior, brief story // “On Halloween even 1938 a company of actors under the direction of Orson Welles put on the radios play suggested by HG Wells novel the war of the worlds adapted for radio by Howard KOCH. The program was broadcast live in carried Nashly to an audience of 6 million people. The performance was too real and despite announcements that it was only fiction, thousands of Americans throughout the country became convinced they were listening to an emergency news broadcast of an actual attack. They panicked. People fled their homes, jams highways. It took several days before order was completely restored.”
