I’ve had a great deal of pleasure selling promo albums from my days in radio promotion and the neat thing is I got them all for free. The job never did pay much but if you were in it for the music like me, you did get all the albums and singles you wanted. Tonight I’m offering an item I did have to pay for. I purchased it when I was a teenager and not yet into music promotion, however I was working for a music store and I did get it at cost that I think was two dollars and forty seven cents. This is the first album I ever purchased and I think it shows were my developing musical tastes were headed. I loved The Clovers and made several trips to see them in the fifties. I recently found this disc is a speaker enclosure that had a storage space for albums. I need the certified Soul music collector to tell me what I have here and I pass on what I think can shed some light on the age of this classic. The jacket is in excellent overall condition, front and back with strong corners, no seam splits or notations. The cover appears to have a laminate finish both front and back. The disc has nice luster but does have some fine scratching and I no longer have a player to test it. The black and silver Atlantic labels are perfect with very little spindle markings. The dead wax has the letters AT on both sides, one side has the number 11390 and the letter “C”, the other side the number 11389 the letter “B”. Disc is in a plain yellowing paper sleeve. From what I’ve read it should have the catalog # 8009, but as you can see on the jacket the number here is 1248.
