Victor "Melba" Record in Original Sleeve
Sweet Bird (Handel), Victor 95016
Here is one of the mauve label "Melba" label Victor records from 1904. The record is in good condition, with some light groove wear at the beginning and some surface rubs and marks - mostly non sounding. I would give it a V+ rating overall. The sleeve has not survived as well, and has flaking of the black pebble cloth around all the edges. Several spots have been touched up with a black marker, and although visible, they are not objectionable. There is a 4" split on the upper right seam. The picture of Melba (visible when the record is removed) is quite clear, and the transparent insert is intact. These early "Melba" label Victors are fairly scarce, but the sleeves are extremely difficult to find in any condition. Despite the faults on the sleeve, this item still makes a very unique display piece for your record room.
