Here I have for sale a very rare copy of Dark Horse by George Harrison (You won't find it listed anywhere)
Demo copy in collaboration with Melody Maker Magazine. First Press
"In 1974 the Melody Maker decided it was time to reinvigorate the music scene by holding a talent contest. The paper was only reluctantly shaking off its dance band origins and had embraced proper musical heroes like Rick Wakeman as their rock blueprint. When punk hit, The Melody Maker would be badly wrong footed but in 1974 it was more of an even playing field, this was a big influential paper, if the Melody Maker rated you it was a big leg up the fame ladder."
Melody Maker, looking for a big name (and you couldn't get much bigger than George Harrison at the time, having three hit albums behind him and a lot of clout), teamed up with George Harrison, with the release of his new album Dark Horse. Only a handful were ever printed, released mainly for the press, radio stations and alike as a promo.
This promo is unique in the fact that, on the one side (Side 2) of the record is the original label (with Factory Sample Not For Sale sticker) on it. On the other side (Side 1) is a specially and unique produced sticker for the promotion with 'Melody Maker Rock/Folk Contest' printed on it.
Cover is very good with some minor edge/shelf wear and a sticker mark in the top right hand corner of the front
Inner sleeve has no damage but has a stain mark on one side
Record has very minor surface marks and looks like it needs a good clean.
I have to sell and there is no reserve price on it.
