Description
This is a very rare vintage 1955 Jazz album titled Mambo For Cats. The cover art by legendary midcentury artist Jim Flora is truly superb. Album covers designed in the 1940?s and 50?s by the late Jim Flora perfectly captured the jazz mania that swept over both the players and their audiences. The bold, bright colors and abstract illustrations not only created a signature for Flora, but also a common trope for jazz albums that would follow. As a fine artist, Flora employed his full creative powers to unleash a vivid sense of movement, chaos, and vibration in the covers he created and of all of these covers none were as celebrated or as rare as Mambo For Cats. The album itself was a victim of its own hype. Bill Zeitung's liner notes, which are written in mad beatnik/jazz-DJ style, are over the top but nothing is outstanding except the packaging. Monaural Latinate versions of old standards are not exactly the "livin' end" However collectors don’t want it for the music but the awesome cover art. The album itself has the normal wear one would expect but is still very playable with no skips. The jacket itself is in very nice condition with no rips, tears, folds, splits or chips, just a bit of light shelf wear. It displays very well. This would look fantastic framed up or as the final touch of your space age bachelor pad. I am selling this with no reserve!

The cheapest shipping from Canada is ground. This usually takes 14 to 21 days. If you want your package faster let me know before paying and I will adjust the price for air. If you want a tracking number I have to ship your small package as a large package so the price jumps about $7 (varies with weight and size) but if you want one again just let me know before paying.
