Description
This is the first Original Mono 1967 Velvet Underground & Nico Torso cover album that I collected. It is not pristine in any manner, but truly valuable for collection's sake. I have since purchased other copies and am letting this one go to any serious and loving record collector who can appreciate what this is. I purchased this album from an honest and kind collector on e-bay last year. It is time to let another enjoy this album. This album is 47+ years old!
Please read below accurate descriptions of this album, with descriptions given for each photograph: photo 1: Cover shows banana sticker attached! Note the discolored/aged/stained edges and slight ringwear. photo 2: Torso is shown on rear album face! Note ringwear and aging/stains/discoloration photo 3: Inside view of cover shows relatively clean and intact artwork. This part of the album is most protected from aging but shows evident aging/staining primarily on edges. photo 4: Shows spine partially damaged/dinged; cover shows very slight lifting of banana sticker and repeated view of cover stains photo 5: Shows ball point pen name written on upper right back cover; other aging qualities are evident. photo 6: Shows edge wear and slight lifting of lower banana sticker. photo 7: Shows significant seam splits on both sides of gatefold sleeve; also shows slight lifting of banana sticker in some areas; see photo 8 for another viewpoint photo 8: Another picture showing seam splits of gatefold sleeve. photo 9: Side A label showing album information; note that glue residue is present on the left side of label. photo 10: Side B label showing album information; note the scratched/scrawled numbers on label (presumably from a previous owner)?? photo 11: Side A overexposed photograph in order to show the surface wear/scratches/scuffs of the album. photo 12: Side B overexposed photograph in order to show the surface wear/scratches/scuffs of the album.
Album comes with Mobile Fidelity inner sleeve; I am unaware of any original inner sleeve... sorry.
Yes I do play this album. It plays without skipping on my system using $200-$1200 phono cartridges. It DOES have significant surface noise, visible scratches, and is play graded as Good Plus (G+) or slightly better for some passages. Visually, it would be graded as Good or Good Minus (G-). I am not a fan of visually graded albums.
Because I have provided many photographs with accurate descriptions I will let you make any conclusions you desire about the Jacket and record from your visual point of view. If I did not show a photograph listing a defect, then I am unaware of any other defects. Please note that I do care that this is honest and accurate. This album is playable, but I view it for collection's sake... the rarity of the torso cover and mono recording alone are why I purchased this particular copy. If you have not yet heard the mono version, please treat yourself to a copy or reprint... this is how the album should be heard! (in my opinion)
Good Plus: G+/Good/G- WIll play without skipping and have significant surface noise, visible scratches, and/or groove wear. Jacket will have seam splits at the bottom or spine. Tape, glue, writing, ring wear or other defects.
