This box set, designed to replicate the original speaker design, contains fifteen rare Studio One singles as well as a poster, booklet, 45 adapter, a keychain and is compiled from the extensive Studio One catalogue to honor the pioneering Jamaican soundman Clement Dodd, who started recording in the early 1950s.

From rear of box: " The speaker Box has always played a large role in Jamaica. When music in Jamaica began to change from live performances of Big Bands to the playing of R&B 78's at Dances the need to be loud as possible soon became a necessity. The quality and quantity of early sound system speakers soon escalated as more power was added with new upgraded amplifiers that began to provide staggering amounts of wattage. It was not unuasual to hear a "Sound" miles away on a Saturday night.
The importance of these dances to the public made music a living part of Jamaican life. Soon Sound Systems found followers and rivaleries between the different operators formed. So important were these dances that the speakers themselves became known as "House Of Joy". Patrons staggering home on a Monday morning after a weekend spent dancing certainly felt the "Joy". 
This Box contains 15 rare Studio One singles in their original format and covers early labels like D Darling to later ones like Supernatural Disc."
