This listing is for the Various Artists 10" LP entitled Great Jazz Solos. The label and catalog number are Skylark LP 17. The tracks were recorded live at Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, California, in the early 1950s. Each track is named for the primary soloist on the track.

If you collect the music of one of these artists, this is a wonderful place to find a rarity with them performing.
The covers on these Skylark LPs are notoriously ratty. This is one of the better ones I've seen. The front is relatively clean and nice with just a bit of light toning and a small scrape in the upper left corner. The back has some of the typical foxing that you almost always see on these covers. I'd rate the cover as VG+. The vinyl has clean and nice labels and the disc itself (also conservatively) rates a VG. It has some scuffs and light scratches, but nothing major. I test played portions and it sounds quite good -- excellent fidelity for a 10" LP, with just some light background noise, as would be expected from this almost 70-year-old LP. There were no skips on the portions I previewed, and I listened to the Maynard Ferguson track all the way through. Maynard can also be heard on some of the other tracks.
In the past I've seen these sell in excess of $100.00. You'll get it for much less here.
