Description
For sale is "AFRO-DRUM CARNIVAL," on Gene Norman Presents GNP-25, DG, 1957. With "Chano" Pozo, Jack Costanzo, "Sabu" Martinez, others.
SOUND: NM It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Brilliant, clean, and sharp sound overall! Outstanding playback! Only one caveat: a soft, briefly heard "bump" in A1 (due to vinyl pimple, see below.) I'm sticking with NM as a play-grade, like I said, the playback is delightful and the only flaw is very minor.
VINYL: VG+/NM The vinyl looks lustrous and clean. Side A appears near-perfect, with one caveat: a small pimple in track A1, which does affect playback marginally. Side B has a couple very faint inner-sleeve scuffs, completely cosmetic. There is a small pimple inside track B1, but I detect no effect on the playback from that one. DG labels are bright, with faint spindle-marks. One minor flaw keeps this from solid NM.
JACKET: VG+ The edges and spine are solid all-around, with minor wear. The front is clean, bright and unmarked, lovely! The back has a touch of routine aging, but still clean and bright, with a "promo" stamp.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
Plays beautifully, great condition. Buy-it-now for $25.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
