Description
For auction is an ultra rare 1977 acetate test pressing of "Van Halen" by Van Halen on Warner Bros. Records.
Please see the pictures. The labels are generic white and dated 11-1-77, months before the album was released in 1978.
The track sequencing was not yet final and song I'm The One was still called Show Your Love at the time.
There is no matrix etching. I've done exhaustive online and in person research and could not find any test pressings dated before 1978 or with this early sequencing.
Please note the close up picture of the aluminium core.
None of the very knowledgeable shop owners I've shown this to have ever seen any comps and one suspected it to be the 'holy grail' of Van Halen record collectibles.
Record is VG with some light scratches & scuffs, and some surface noise (mostly) between songs. Does not skip or loop. It's been housed in a standard "Van Halen" sleeve in VG/VG- condition with a good amount of general wear but let's face it, nobody cares about the sleeve which I would assume was repurposed to protect this record anyway.
