From the liner notes: "ALBUM No. 1 (VOLONTE) is the first of a series of native song and dance music recorded in Haiti. This album of authentic Haitian rhythm is entitled VOLONTE (meaning WILL-POWER). The song by the same name, included in this album, was written and dedicated as a tribute to His Excellency Dumarsais ESTIME, President of the Republique of Haiti. as the THEME SONG for the International Exposition in commemoration of Bi-Centennial anniversary of the founding of the Capital, Port-au-Prince. This song was inspired by President ESTIME'S untiring efforts to better serve the people of his country and for his tremendous will power in achieving the difficult task of presenting a World's Fair at this time. This Souvenir Album is offered as a means to bring to other lands a cordial message of better understanding and friendship through music. The recording of this album was made possible through the wonderful cooperation of President ESTIME, the Department of Tourism and the wholehearted efforts of artists in Haiti."
