Released in 1964, shortly after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan show (where Spiderman also made his showbiz debut!), this album made VJ Records a lot of money, enough that Capitol decided to buy them outright! Released in over a dozen slight variations, this is the third or fourth most valuable--the stereophonic version with 'Ask Me Why' and 'Please Please Me' (as opposed to the more common version with 'Love Me Do' and 'P.S. I Love You,' which was actually released first.)
Visible playwear and scratching are very, very light, though clearly this record was appreciated often in its day. The album liner is the original VJ issue, featuring ads on both sides--one for thirty of their gospel albums and the other side with thirty of their more mainstream releases. The album cover itself is in not-half-bad shape. It has some wear about the edges, particularly along the bottom which is intermittently cracked. The front has the name "Deb" written just above "Beatles" in light blue felt pen. The back has a black check mark next to "I Saw Her Standing There" and a few bands of gold tape which some infidel probably thought was cool.
