VIV PRINCE
'LIGHT OF THE CHARGE BRIGADE' b/w
'MINUET FOR RINGO'
UK Original A-lable DEMO 45 on COLUMBIA RECORDS DB 7960 from 1966
'Madman' drummer in the similar mold as Keith Moon, VIV PRINCE was the loon in the seat with The PRETTY THINGS in the earlier half of the 1960's.
Somehow, he cut this little gem and registered a completely rare vinyl single for us collectors to speak of in hushed reverence!
The garage-beat r'n b of the Rolling-Stones-like Pretty Things of this period is brilliant, and this is a (shockingly) mature piece of music worthy of Television Soundtrack material! A cool fuzz guitar breaks in, and the arrangement is really quite sophisticated.
The flip too, is a quality piece - a nod of respect to fellow stickman Ringo Starr of The Beatles.
Viv went on to later play in his CBS band KATE, who left us the highly-revered 'Strange Girl'.
So - for Pretty Things completists or standing on its' own - a nice collectible record....
...and in TOP SHAPE!
