This listing is for a copy of an early vinyl LP called BEST OF THE BEATLES. I believe this record was released at the height of "Beatle-mania" in 1966, and it is very interesting. It features the original drummer Pete Best, who has become a folk hero over the years, and there are photos of him and Stu Sutcliffe on the album cover. Sutcliffe was a 3rd guitarist in the group until he died of a brain tumor while they were living and gigging in Hamburg, Germany, and Best was the drummer then. On the cover Best is on the far left and Sutcliffe is on the far right, with a young-looking George, John and Paul are in the middle. Best, George and John seem to be wearing leather jackets, looking rather hoody. The album doesn't give song credits, nor is it possible to tell if Sutcliffe is playing or singing, but the implication is that Best is drumming. The songs are interesting, but not as good as their early stuff on Capitol. This is a nice, thick 60's pressing, and it may be a Brit release. It almost looks like a bootleg. If you're a Beatles fan like I am, I think you'll find this very interesting to look at and listen too, even though the recording and songs leave something to be desired. I also think this is a rare record. The vinyl is in VG++ and it plays well, but it's an early mono recording, so it sounds low fidelity. The cover is VG+ with ring wear and minor wear in general. All items are mailed USPS Media Mail the day after sale. Items sold on Friday or on weekends are mailed on Monday. LPs are sandwiched between two layers of corrugated cardboard, and the LP is in a sealed sleeve as wall. I have other collectible LPs listed on eBay.
