Description
Look at this rare SUN RA record. It has the cover with the textured picture. Zoom in for condition. Front cover shows age spots. Back cover not so much. It has the artist and title written in pen on the front but I think that is the way the record came from the manufacturer. Not 100% certain on that.
The record is in real nice shape. When the needle goes on side 1 you hear some crackling until the music starts. I think it was the cheap vinyl used to make these records. It doesn't sound like a wear issue. Throughout side 1 you don't hear any noise when the music is playing. I cranked it up and there is no noise to speak of. Wow, this is some real interesting music!
Side 2 has a blemish on the record for around 1" - again it looks like a manufacturing issue. See the pic. You hear some noise - around 2 rotations in the lead in. Then around another 8 rotations during the piano intro. Then when the sax enters it disappears pretty much. There are occasional pops and minor surface noise here and there. Not too bad actually. I really think it has to do with the crappy vinyl they were pressed on. Very kind of boot-ish. The vinyl is real shiny.
The labels have that pasted on homegrown look to them. Zoom in for label condition. The pics tell the tale. CMIJ 78 A or B etched into the deadwax.
