Venom ist eine englische Metal-Band, die 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne gegründet wurde. Gegen Ende der New Wave Of British Heavy Metal wurden die ersten beiden Alben von Venom Welcome to Hell (1981) und Black Metal (1982) - als wichtiger Einfluss auf Thrash Metal und Extreme Metal angesehen. Venoms zweites Album war so wegweisend, dass der Titel als Name für das Metal-Subgenre Black Metal verwendet wurde. Das klassische Band Line-Up-Trio Cronos, Mantas und Abaddon nahm zwei weitere Studioalben auf: At War With Satan (1984) und Possessed (1985) sowie das Live-Album Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (1986). Sie werden oft von Bands wie Metallica, Behemoth, Celtic Frost und Mayhem als Haupteinflüsse genannt und sind eine der am meisten verehrten Bands ihrer Generation. Venom sind weiterhin mit Sänger und Bassisten Cronos auf der ganzen Welt unterwegs und veröffentlichen neue Alben.
Mit In Nomine Satanas feiert man die Gründungsjahre der Band. Das Album erscheint als 2CD im Mediabook (43 Songs), colored 2LP im Gatefold Sleeve (22 Songs) sowie Deluxe Boxset mit 6 LPs, 7" Shape Disc, Buch, Back Patch und weiterem Merchandise, unter anderem ein Album mit bislang unveröffentlichten Demo-Songs, die aus dem Gründungs-Jahr 1979 stammen.
