Velvet Underground Velvet Underground And Nico Original MONO LP V-5008 WITH PEELED BANANA STICKER COMPLETELY INTACT AND THE ORIGINAL, FIRST VERSION OF THE COVER (UN-AIRBRUSHED "TORSO" COVER).
Original US Press.
Jacket/Vinyl: VG/VG(+). CONSERVATIVE GRADE! Some spine flaking, small 2" splits on top and bottom seams. medium wear to front and back covers. Vinyl has light marks, remains glossy and plays great. See the pictures, and please contact for additional info/pics.
The legendary - and much coveted - first version of the Velvet Underground's Andy Warhol "Banana Cover" album with peel-off banana intact. Only slight wear. Back cover includes the un-airbrushed image of the actor Steve Emerson's torso hanging upside-down, above the band performing on stage. Sticker intact. Vinyl is conservatively VG(+). Some light marks, nothing that can be felt and the vinyl retains its shine.As a result of the legal dispute between Verve Records, and Emerson (who asked to be paid for his 'cameo' appearance), ALL subsequent pressings and reissues of this album have the superimposed image of Emerson's torso indelicately retouched and wiped out. Copies of the "torso cover" were recalled and destroyed. Some copies, such as this, were merely stickered over. I have not removed the sticker and will leave that up to the buyer.
