Description

The Velvet Underground & Nico

Original RARE MONO Peelable Banana Gatefold pressing.
Catalog # V-5008
Matrixes: Side One: V5008 Side 1 MG558 Rev Side Two: V5008 Side 2 MG559
Banana still intact, partial peeling and replaced well (see pics for a better look!)
Includes original Verve catalog Inner Sleeve. This is the first pressing post lawsuit, post Sticker cover up that was pressed in 1968. Monos in this shape don't pop up often.
(SEE PICTURES BELOW!!)

Cover = Sits comfortably between NM and VG++. No tears at all, Spine info reads perfectly - super clean there. The cover shows some minimal wear on the white surface from storage over the years, but overall in amazing shape. The gatefold is super clean as well, aside from a small pen signing of the original owners name. (see  photo below).

The Banana: There's a seperation from the tip of the banana and the rest (see pics) Hard to tell if it was ever completely peeled. If it was, whoever did so did a FANTASTIC job replacing and conserving it. Tip and Banana are fully present and applied well. (again see pics for consideration)

Vinyl = A strong VG++, light surface scratches thru-out. Play tested it's 90% inaudible, and when audible during quiet passages it's the sound of old vinyl - not pops and interference. No deep marks at all. Side two has black ink smears from the factory, and a small pen sining of the original owners name across the Verve T. A very fine playable copy. Sounds unbelievable in Mono as well!

A great piece (this coming from someone who owns roughly 20+ copies of this release in various pressings.)

GRADING AND SHIPPING INFO:

I do my best to describe the item as best I can. I often will mention things that buyers don't even notice upon receipt of the item - this is to assure that you are satisfied with your record. I tend not to list items that are less than VG- unless they are utterly RARE.

The record will be shipped in a cardboard record mailer & padding (note: $1.00 is added to shipping cost to pay for this mailer, which is us splitting the cost of packaging supply - it is already in there when you use the calculator). The record will be outside the cardboard jacket, inside an inner sleeve and both contained in a poly sleeve. This is to help from damage during shipping. PLEASE note if you are using the Ebay Postage calculator and it seems surprisingly high; it probably IS. At the end of auction I go by the USPS (united States Postal Service) Calculator to calculate the shipping. Most international packages end up somewhere between $14-20. Most domestic around $9-14. All packages are packed by me, very carefully!!

As well if you wish; view my recent feedback and see the recent ended auctions. ALL positive feedback on many $100-400 UK Jazz records. I don't really bother with listing records that people will be unsatisfied with - so bid confidently.
