"One of the rarest picture sleeves ever printed."
So reckons a leading website on the VELVET UNDERGROUND of the legendary "VU-1," a picture-sleeved single issued in 1969 to promote the VU's third LP. This MGM single is truly the stuff dreams are made of!
The sleeve's image was photographed by ANDY WARHOL cohort BILLY NAME. The same shot would appear on the cover of the Velvets' 3rd LP, with one noticeable change. The copy of HARPER'S BAZAAR being perused by Lou Reed had its logo blurred out on the album proper. On this picture sleeve, as you can see, it's intact!
Picture sleeve, printed on glossy paper, is intact, with no splits or loose seams. It does have wrinkles and some visible ring wear, esp. to front of sleeve. Call it a strong VG.
The disc itself appears unplayed. It has some dust and light but visible scuffing. It can be cleaned to upgrade its condition. Let's be conservative and call the disc a strong VG+, in its present, uncleaned state.
Picture sleeve and disc will be very carefully and sturdily packed. We'll have to insist on insurance for this item--the amount will be determined after the close of this auction. Priority Mail shipping is $5.00 in USA. Shipping outside USA to be determined after close of auction.
