TITLE/ARTIST: Hello again - please continue to check out all current and future listings as everything from my personal collection will eventually come up for sale - records from the '50's, '60's, and much, much more - all "oldies" and all in great condition! Here is another one of the very rarest various artists LP`s ever released - entitled "The Best Vocal Groups-Rhythm And Blues" - an LP from the 1957 that features four (4) great R'n'B groups including the highly collectible, Penguins. All of this is on the ultra rare red vinyl and in pretty decent overall condition. I'm told this red vinyl copy may have been released as a promotional record to radio stations only - but the label doesn't address this and I can't say it with any amount of certainty, so all you collector's out there can be the judge. I do know that I've been collecting records all of my adult life (over 50 years now), and I have never seen any other copy of this LP. Both the front and back sides have pictures of each performing group, and the backside also has a brief biography on these same groups - please view all 12 pictures above. It is on the red vinyl, maroon colored, Dootone Label, and includes 12 of the great songs and artists from that time - six (6) of which were done by, The Penguins. The other groups on this album are The Medallions, The Meadowlarks, and The Dootones but please view all twelve (12) pictures above for the song titles and more. The album appears to be in good overall condition, although certainly not perfect by any definition, so please read on. FYI, I have also listed one other super rare, late '50's "various artists" LP this week - entitled "Jamboree!" - so feel free to check that one out as well. LABEL INFO: This original, maroon colored, Dootone label (DL 204), in MONO of course, is in great shape but does show several spindle lines around the center circle, which indicates regular play (as you'd expect). VINYL INFO: The specially released red vinyl is primarily very shiny and clean, but there are several light, albeit fairly uneventful, surface and/or paper lines on both sides. These lines have no serious effect the album's play, although if you listen closely enough there is some very light background "popping" in some places. But, there are no skips and the sound is absolutely outstanding once the songs begin!! JACKET INFO: Finally, this jacket - with pictures of all the performers on both sides and brief liner notes on the back side - is mostly quite good. But, it does show signs of "aging" primarily on the backside, a small "smudge-like" mark in the lower left corner (see pics), and a few very small scuff marks along parts of all the seams, but no seam splits. Otherwise, it too is just fine. INTERESTING FACTS: Although it is far from perfect, this ultra rare and highly collectible "oldies" LP is one very interesting piece to say the least. So, please have at it and continue to check this site for more great conditioned 50's-60's LPs from my personal collection. As I have already mentioned, over time I am selling off my entire collection, and there are many more to get to yet -- of all genre's, sizes, and varieties. Many of these still to be listed 45's/LP's are rare and hard to find, and most all of them are in near mint shape - and I never use minimum bids. So again, please bookmark my site and check it out from time to time. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! If anyone ever needs more info than what is listed, please email me. I will respond! POSTAGE/HANDLING CHARGES: In the United States, the buyer agrees to pay $5.00 (Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation) for the first LP purchased, and then just $1.00 per LP after that-----so, buy in quantity and save. These are U.S. rates only, and all foreign winners will have to await an email me for their exact costs, although I will send a detailed invoice as soon as the auction is over---but, there too, it is cheaper to send multiple pieces. The charges for overseas are listed in the shipping category below--$23.00 for the 1st LP and then just $4.00 per LP after that. PLEASE NOTE: I take a great deal of pride in packaging all my mailings both safely and securely. However, I cannot be responsible for records that are lost or damaged by either US or overseas Postal Services. But, for additional fees, I will gladly ship the packages Priority Mail and/or add insurance! Please email me with either, or both, requests if this is of interest to you. Also, please continue to check out "rogersrecords" on ebay for future collectible records of all types. There are many more to come! browser does not support JavaScript.
