This compilation may have been for Radio Station use since it boasts copious liner notes which were a DJ's dream but it was certainly available, in various formats, by mail order. Jac and Keith Holzman put it together, ostensibly to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the first sampler LP: Elektra's 'A Folk Music Sampler' of 1954.

(NOTE: tracks marked in RED are those found on the American release , while tracks marked in BLACK are those found on the British 2-LP set [the one we have here];. As you can see, the musical content of the two sets is massively different. The American release [the one we DON'T have here]; is remarkable for the inclusion of the Beefeaters' (The Byrds' original name) first (and only for Elektra) single ["Please Let Me Love You"], which hasn't seen the light of day in any manner, way or form - except on this compilation - for nearly 40 years, between 1964 and 2001.

(b)          The records are believed to come in their original stock inner sleeves.

(c)           The records are  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

-         Cover has a small original price sticker, which may be possible to remove with a little effort after the shrink wrap has been removed
