Description
This is an original, 2nd issue, vinyl copy of the classic, 1970 Folk/JazzyRock LP "MOONDANCE" by VAN MORRISON. On the highly collectable WARNER BROTHERS label, MADE IN UK, Deep Green label; the cat.no. is K 46040. The dead wax/run-off grooves contain dual Matrix nos. WS 1835A-1 / B-1 (The 1st Pressing catalogue & Matrix numbers) as well as K 46040 A / B indicating a very early "Crossover" Pressing.
The outer, unlaminated, single cover is in EXCELLENT+ (*Note, I only use "MINT" for SEALED/BRAND NEW/UNPLAYED Records*) condition overall. Shiny, with no major creases & no edge rubbing (virtually no corner rub), this cover is actually really very good indeed. The front colour surface is EXCELLENT; no surface lift or marks apart from one line or, crease near to the top edge (looks like a bend caused by the record within); otherwise would be NEAR PERFECT. The spine is EXCELLENT+ ; perfectly, straight, flat & true with all Title Print easily readable. The opening edge is also EXCELLENT+ with no feathering; clean, straight & flat. The rear surface is also EXCELLENT being unmarked, flat & shiny, but with the corresponding record imprint visible on the front cover repeated on the back. I grade this back surface as EXCELLENT; with all type/print perfectly readable.
The deep GREEN record labels with Black print & BLUE & ORANGE WB Shield logo are EXCELLENT+. No visible spindle marking or other blemishes.
The vinyl is NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT+ for 99% of the playing surface; if you look really carefully, there is one (non-sounding) small surface mark on the 2nd half of Track 3 on Side 2. Otherwise it all looks absolutely wonderful to me in natural daylight &, under strong artificial light, just the merest of paper withdrawal marks visible. Test played today on my highly critical Linn Sondek LP12; sounds brilliant with just the odd crackle & static type noises between tracks.
