SUCH A DEAL. Van Halen is the self-titled debut studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen. YES, THIS IS THE "REAL DEAL". THIS DOES HAVE THE PALM TREE LABEL ON THE ORIGINAL VINYL. FOR COLLECTABILITY AND QUALITY OF SOUND, THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT. I USE THE OLD REPORT SCALE TO RATE THE SET. IN MY OPINION, I WOULD RATE THE VINYL:A-. THE INNER SLEEVE:C-. THE OUTER SLEEVE (cover):C. THESE ARE MY OVERALL RATINGS, INCLUDING... CONSIDERING THE AGE AND PRICE RANGE FOR COMPARISON. SEE THE PHOTOS, WHICH I TOOK FROM MANY ANGLES, SO YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. THE INNER SLEEVE HAD THE USUAL EDGE RIPS. I TAPED THE EDGES TO KEEP THE RECORD SECURE. THE EDGES OF THE OUTER SLEEVE (the cover) HAD THE NORMAL EDGE WEAR. I USED A SHARPIE TO COVER UP MOST OF IT AND I MUST ADMIT, IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER. YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF IN THE PHOTOS. I WILL MAIL IT TO YOU WITH TENDER LOVING CARE (super packaging), INCLUDING USPS TRACKING, FROM LOS ANGELES. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY. MOST OF THESE OUT THERE ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL PALM TREE LABELED ALBUMS. VERIFY IT BEFORE YOU BUY, FROM ANY SELLER. Released on February 10, 1978, the album peaked at #19 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 10 million copies in the United States, receiving Diamond certification. The album contains some of Van Halen's most well-known songs, including "Runnin' with the Devil", "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love", "Jamie's Cryin'", and their cover of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me". The 1 minute and 42 second Eddie Van Halen instrumental "Eruption" is considered one of the best electric guitar solos of all time and popularized the technique of two-handed tapping.
