THIS (QUICKLY WITHDRAWN) ORIGINAL MIX HAS A MORE SPACIOUS SOUND THAN THE MORE FAMILIAR SECOND MIX - MORE UPFRONT ON GUY EVANS' PERCUSSIVE FLOURISHES AND ON PETE HAMMILL'S VOCALS, WHICH MAKES THEM ALL THE MORE HEARTBREAKING AND THE ACOUSTIC TOUCHES ARE CLEARER - DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT
PRESSED ON HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (156g) WITH THE FIRST ISSUE ROUGH, TEXTURED CHARISMA PINK SCROLL LABELS
MATRIX NUMBERS: CAS 1007 A / CAS 1007 B (the remix has a G suffix to the matrix numbers)

COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL POLY-LINED INNER SLEEVE WITH UK PATENT NUMBER AND "FOREIGN PATENTS PENDING" PRINTED IN BLUE
The album was recorded at Trident Studios, London, December 11-14, 1969.
Trident was perhaps the most advanced studio in Europe at the time and the group made good use of the new technology to created a recording of outstanding technical quality.
Most of the album was recorded on an 8-track reel to reel machine. However, the song After The Flood was recorded on the brand new state of the art MM-1000 16-track machine built by Ampex.
This makes it perhaps the first such 16 track recording ever made in the U.K.
The title of the LP is taken from John Minton: "We're all awash in a sea of blood, and the least we can do is wave to each other."

LABELS: NEAR MINT
Clean, fresh and unmarked labels - just a small number of light spindle traces
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT
Both surfaces retain their original deep glossy sheen - there are some superficial light marks and hairlines but nothing major
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT
Apart from a few light clicks here and there (nothing continuous) this copy plays beautifully - very clean - and any of these imperfections are more than compensated for by the sheer power and brilliance of this first pressing.
Hard to find in its original mix this is an extremely nice copy
SLEEVE: VERY GOOD
In common with just about every other original sleeve I have seen this suffers from edge, surface and corner wear but it is good and solid - there is a taped repair to the top edge of the side which houses the record (please see close-up photos) but overall, a pretty fine example
