VALDEMIR (Karma International MLP-8367, mono)

• Condition : Cover is EX, very slight wear, close to NM. Vinyl is VG++, few light marks on S1, mostly plays NM.
• Description : Rare circa 1967 original indy label or private label release from Ukrainian guy living in Los Angeles. Features arrangements by Daryl Dragon which connects it to all sorts of underground L.A. scenes (Bob Smith, Farm, etc). Amazing psychedelic sleeve design. Side one is six Ukrainian folk songs with acoustic guitar. Side two has three more songs in Ukrainian with more upbeat arrangements, and the last three cuts are in English, falling into a sort of Twilight Zone of lounge crooner / trippy folk-rock-pop. These last three cuts (and the sleeve art) are the main items of interest here, with "Falling Star" being the highlight. I vaguely recall some psych dealers having sealed copies of this during the '80s but I could find literally ZERO references to this LP on the web, which suggests it's gotten pretty rare of late! I found it recently amongst a small but varied collection of ethnic folk albums. This will appeal more to collectors of L.A. scene artifacts, bizarre pop, ethnic folk, outsider strangeness and the like rather than psych/garage guys. I'm putting it up with no reserve, you guys can decide the price.
