MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Producciones Fermata Records very first MONO press released by Producciones Fermata Records, made by RCA S.A. Electrónica (RCA Records) and distributed in Chile in 1969 by Corporación De Radio De Chile, S.A. (CRC Records), catalog number LF-159-X, with hand etched matrix numbers LF-159-A EB-CD in Side 1 and LF-159-B EB-CD in Side 2, with traditional white/black/red Fermata Records labels of the period. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Fermata… Mata” is a compilation album of Brazilian artists released in 1969 in Chile but I don’t know if this record had an international issue, maybe with some different title, for example in Argentina or Brazil, where Fermata Records had a strong presence, I don’t know. But we got this record, as usual in that period, with an UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle with two sheets of paper attached (only glued in the mouth edge, even though in this record the front sheet is already unglued) to that cardboard for front and back covers, so 3 sides are open and kept together for a plastic bag. Front cover has a picture of a girl, with album title at top edge and the tracklist in random order at left edge, with the Producciones Fermata Records logo and catalof number at bottom right corner, in red color. Back cover keeps the same picture of the girl, but only black and white, with the tracklist at left edge in correct order, written only in Spanish (except “Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus”, which’s written in French), with full credits for songwriters, Spanish lyricists when applicable and licenses of each song (only 3 songs don’t inform the licenses), with publicity for Avianca Airlines and “Disco Es Cultura” (“Record Is Culture” in English) at bottom left corner. In labels the album title and song titles are written in Spanish only (except “Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus”, which’s written in French), with full credits for songwriters, Spanish lyricists when applicable and licenses (except 3 songs). It’s interesting to notice that in this compilation of Brazilian singers/bands 6 songs are sung in Spanish, one of them, by Cauby Peixoto, “Amame Esta Noche”, a Spanish version of “Love Me Tonight”, which was a worldwide hit for Tom Jones, which’s also a version of the original 1969 Italian hit “Alla fine della strada” (“To the End of the Road” in English) by Junior Magli And The Casuals. And the name of the band The Communicatives is in Spanish, Los Comunicativos, which’s the name used in Argentina, so I guess this record was first released in Argentina before Chile. So, here you have the chance to get and own this great compilation album in this MEGARARE (and maybe UNIQUE) CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with 12 Brazilian hits of the period and 6 of them sung in Spanish, a record almost never seen, and maybe now auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Brazilian Pop Beat music of the ‘60’s and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Erasmo Carlos, Dori Edson, Cauby Peixoto and all the other artists included!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or EX+ condition, with some minimal wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with light creases and faint age browning in back cover, hard to see at first sight because of the color, free of marks of any kind. The record is in VG or even VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some scuffs, light hairlines and some soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX- or even EX condition the Side 1, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), constant very light crackles and some soft occasional clicks here and there, and in VG or VG+ condition the Side 2, almost same condition as Side 1 but with the light crackles and soft clicks more evident, especially in song “Copacabana” by Dick Farney, which don’t cause major distraction from the still loud and clean sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, for sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but with a very nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and still great sound quality after about 54 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean record!!! And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER and that 6 of the songs by these Brazilian artists are sung in Spanish!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
