WOW!!! RARE and HARD TO FIND original Philips Records very first MONO press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1972 by DISCOS PHILIPS (Philips Records), catalog number 6300 056, with hand etched matrix numbers 6300-056-A EB-CD in Side 1 and 6300-056-B EB-CD in Side 2, with black/silver Philips Records labels. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“ALTO VOLTAJE” is a compilation record released here in Chile in 1972, not sure if this record is an exclusive compilation album for Chilean market, I’ve not found any information about some similar issue in other countries, but sure it’s a very interesting selection of known and unknown songs here in Chile, maybe it was a way to present some Philips artists. The cover is made of a single piece of a very thin cardboard folded in the middle, faking a gatefold cover, so three sides are open and kept all together by a plastic bag. Front cover has a very simple design of high voltage waves, with album title at top edge and some song titles written in Spanish and others in English, with Philips Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. Back cover has the album title and the tracklist listed without any additional information. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in Spanish only. So, the songs included in this compilation are:

Side 1:

The cover was already described and it’s in VG+ or EX- condition, with light wear in all edges, more evident in mouth edge and corners, with little rips and creases, with general age browning in the mouth edge. The record is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with many scuffs, soft hairlines and light scratches, which don’t affect play. Labels are in great NM- or NM condition both sides, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear in Side 2. The sound is in EX- or EX condition the Side 1, loud, clean and clear, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with only some minimal crackles and only 3 soft pops in song 3 by Michel Sardou, and in VG- or VG condition the Side 2, loud, clear and clean, almost the same condition of Side 1 but I had to downgrade it because in song “Maggie May” I detected some little jumps, I don’t see any imperfection in the grooves, so it’s possible that jumps are caused for some dust particles I’ve not could remove or maybe in other turntables it doesn’t jump, you must already know that records behave different in different turntables, anyway I’d recommend a deep vacuum cleaning, because the little jumps I detected will cause some distraction, but of course the rest of the album won’t disappoint anyone. Overall, sure this record isn’t for audiophiles or Minty minds, but it keeps a decent clean look, almost immaculate labels and still a great sound quality after almost 43 years, with the jumps (in my turntable) already informed but with all the other songs ready to hear and enjoy from the beginning to the end!!! And keep in mind this album has an UNIQUE COVER, it’s a MONO PRES and maybe it’s an UNIQUE COMPILATION released only in Chile and includes a song by Patty Pravo sung in Spanish!!! WOW!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

We have an unique value worldwide: 

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for.
