Description
Hard to find "Backwoods" LP by folk rock couple Gay & Terry Woods This is the extremely rare Irish pressing with miss-printed labels (names wrong way around as "Terry and Gay Woods").
Matrix Number Side One: 2383322 A//2?420 03 1 1 Matrix Number Side Two: 2383322 B//1?420 03 1 1
1975 Polydor Records Cat# Super 2383322
The sleeve of the Irish pressing was made flat like a 12" single cover and the information that would have appeared on the spine is printed along the extreme right hand side of the back cover. The cover itself is in superb condition without any seam splits, tears, ring-wear, edge-wear or writing. There is some very minor creasing at the opening of the sleeve and because of this I am grading it conservatively as Excellent+.
The record itself is in remarkable condition. The vinyl retains its sheen and lustre and looks almost unplayed without any major scratches or scuffs. The red Polydor labels are clean and unmarked with very few if any spindle marks. The Artists are named incorrectly on the labels as "Terry and Gay Woods" instead of "Gay and Terry Woods" (see photographs). The record grades extremely highly from a visual point of view but when it is played you can really appreciate the superb sound quality. Surface noise is almost non existent which is important for this album as it is acoustic in nature and many of the songs start off quietly. I have listened to it from start to finish and I would guess that it sounds as good as it did the day it left the pressing plant in 1975. I have no hesitation in giving the vinyl a grading of Near Mint.
