Description
A great opportunity to buy an ORIGINAL copy of a VINYL LP by Various Artists called "Put It On It's Rock Steady".
This is possibly one of the rarest Island label records made, as it originally sold in small numbers and to find a FIRST PRESSING copy is an absolute must for any avid collectors of late 60's Reggae / Ska music.
Made in England and released in 1968 on the Island label (ILP 978 mono)(rough textured pink label with black circle logo and laminated sleeve). It has a total of 14 tracks:-
Side One:- Put It On - The Wailers: Doctor Dick - King Perry: Rude Boy Gone Jail - The Clarendonians; Dancing Mood - Delroy Wilson; Save A Bread - Justin Hines; Darling I Love You - Movin' Brothers; I've Got To Go Back Home - Bob & Andy.
Side Two:- Dance All Night - Tartans; Let The Little Girl Dance - Hopetown Lewis; Feel Good - Ken Boothe; See Them A Come - Mr Foundations; Won't You Come Home Baby - Gaylads; It's Raining - Tree Tops; Somebody's Baby - Pat Kelly.
The record is in a lovely clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition, with only faint spindle marks evident with angled viewing. I have played it all the way through and there are the occasional clicks, otherwise it plays and sounds fine. I always grade and examine records under a bright table lamp and there are a few light surface marks on the vinyl, some of which may well have been transit scuffs caused by the inner sleeve. Certainly they have little effect on the overall sound quality.
It is certainly a pleasure to see a Reggae album that has not been thoroughly played to death like so many examples of late 60's / early 70's Reggae & Ska LP's.
The labels are completely clean and free from any writing, marks or defects.
The matrix numbers are:- ILP 978 A and ILP 978 B.
The vinyl is housed within the original die-cut plain white inner sleeve in very good condition with just some minor creasing in the corners and the opening edge.
The picture cover is in a VERY GOOD condition. It is a laminated flip-back cover printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. The colours are still very strong and appear to be unfaded. The front cover has just a very small amount of ring-wear and minor light creases close to the edges. It has the original price sticker still intact. The top and bottom edges are clean and straight and the spine is very solid with just light edge hairline type creases in parts. The text is clearly visible (see photo). There is a one centimetre tear at the opening edge, two centimetres from the bottom corner. The back cover has slight grubbiness near the opening edge, otherwise it is in a clean and undamaged condition.
Overall a great example of this highly collectable 42 year old record and cover. There is no reserve on this item so please feel free to bid, but winning bidders - please pay promptly. If payment is a problem, then please do not bid. Payment by PayPal is much preferred.

The record will be sent DOUBLE-BOXED in professional boxes with the record removed from the cover. The inner box is then placed within an outer box for added protection and safe transit.
