Description
Up for bidding is a copy of Uriah Heep's Very 'Eavy... Very 'Umble LP. It is on the famous UK Vertigo "swirl" label. I'm not an expert on this label, but I think it is a 1st pressing. On the inside of the gatefold, the album has been signed by the lineup that played on their third album: David Byron, Mick Box, Ken Hensley & Paul Newton, who all played on this album; Nigel "Ollie" Olsson's signature is the missing signature from this lineup, and in his place, it has been signed by Iain Clark (you can see Mick Box's signature, along with parts of David Byron's and Iain Clark's, in the 2nd picture). The tracklist is:
Gypsy
Walking In Your Shadow
Come Away Melinda
Lucy Blues
Dreammare
Real Turned On
I'll Keep On Trying
Wake Up (Set Your Sights)
The cover is a solid VG+; it has few marks and lots of creases and bends along the edges, plus a general loss of lustre to the laminate, but still very attractive overall. No splits or tears, and no writing outside of what the band themselves put in the gatefold.
As for the record, I unfortunately have to make this an AS-IS item. If I'd done a straight visual-only, I'd give it a G. As for play quality, it mostly makes for a better play than it looks, especially when the music kicks in, BUT... there is a needle drag mark in the intro of "Dreammare" that may cause your needle to jump. I have three turntables in my house, and it plays through the mark on two of them, but it skips on the third one. Again, due to this, I cannot guarantee the album will play through without skipping.
A for the labels, they have the usual spindle marks and a slight bit of yellowing around the spindle hole on the non-swirl side. The Vertigo inner sleeve is tatty, but present.
