Description
A 1st pressing of Magician's Birthday on the UK Bronze label from 1972. Matrix A1U/B1U. Stampers 3LG/4TG. Etching - G.Kong. These details alone are indicative of 1st issue. This is the first label variation where the catalogue number includes a dot rather than two hyphons and GERRY BRON is capitalised. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by Robor Ltd. Also included is the original lyric inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely superb condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity and minimal interference. We only detected some light static in RAIN, but even this is minor. Make no mistake about it this is a superbly preserved record. It is often reported that later issues suffer from inferior sound reproduction. But I am pleased to report audio quality on these early copies is outstanding and manages to carry off the full spectrum of sound with excellent precision. I doubt you'll find a better playing copy than this.
Cover (Ex+) Wowzers this cover has been carefully looked after - just look at those shots! Only the very lightest handling wear. Look at the spine - unbelievable condition! The cover retains perfect rigidity and to all intents and purposes feel like a newly printed cover. Even the openings are still sharp. Very very nice and difficult to find.
Inner (Ex-) A bit of light ageing. But no splits...!
