Wenn ich schreibe "Ultrarar", ist das in diesem Fall sicher keine marketingtechnische Übertreibung. Diese Single ist extrem selten zu finden! 2009 hat ein Exemplar im Mint-Zustand bei einer Auktion über £ 1000 erzielt. Dieses Exemplar ist sicherlich nicht Mint, aber in einem sehr ordentlichen Zustand (VG - VG+). Altersbedingt sind haarfeine Kratzer zu sehen, aber abgesehen von einem leichten Knistern lässt sich die Single problemlos abspielen. Wie auf den Fotos zu sehen, ist das Label auf der A-Seite beschriftet worden und hat Klebspuren eines Aufklebers. Auf der B-Seite befindet sich ein kleiner roter Aufkleber. Die Single wurde original ohne Picture-Sleeve verkauft, sondern in einem Papiercover mit Logo-Aufdruck des Labels ("Company Sleeve). Dieses Papiercover ist nicht mehr vorhanden, stattdessen kommt die Single in einem neutralen weißen Papiercover.

Calling this single "ultrarare" is not an exaggeration. This item is very hard to find! In 2009, a copy in mint condition was sold for more than £ 1000. This copy is surely not mint, but in a very good condition (VG - VG+). Due to the age of this record, you can see capillary scratches, but apart from minimal cracking noises this single plays just fine. As you can see in the pictures, there's pen writing and the remains of a sticker on the label of the A-side. The label of the B-side contains a small red sticker. Originally this single was sold without picture sleeve, but in a generic "Columbia" company sleeve. This paper sleeve is not included, and the single is delivered in a plain white sleeve instead.
The Syndicats were Steve Howe's first band. Their three singles on Columbia (EMI) were produced by Joe Meek. When lead guitarist Howe left for Tomorrow in 1965, he was replaced by Ray Fenwick. Fenwick plays lead-guitar on the band's most famous song "Crawdaddy Simone". He co-wrote it with Jeff Williams, the bands' keyboardist.
Further members were John Truelove (drums), Kevin Driscoll (vocals & guitar), Johnny Lamb (vocals), Paul Holm (drums, last single). Co-founder member, Kevin Driscoll, died in London on 16 August 1982.
"Crawdaddy Simone" is played over the end credits of Telstar, a film biopic of Joe Meek,released in June 2009. The song was also covered by Garage Rock band The Horrors.
