This is an extremely rare 7” vinyl record from late 1960s featuring Fereydoon, an Assyrian musician and singer of The Only Assyrian Beat/Garage Band Friends — one of Iran’s Beat Bands of the era. Friends was a group that was made of a group of young Assyrian artists. There's two known vinyl recorded by the group, this vinyl is labeled "Karoon Store" located in Tehran. The vinyl was pressed by Royal Records catalog number RT1983. Although there are numerous Assyrian artists who have performed old Assyrian and folk pieces, "Freydoon" is not found among the available Assyrian Artists lists.

The record includes two songs:

•Side A: Ghessegoo

(“The Storyteller”)

‎ܦܪܝܕܘܢ – ܓܣܐܓܘ

•Side B: Bekhab Nazaninam

(“Sleep, My Darling”)

‎ܦܪܝܕܘܢ – ܒܟܐܒ ܢܙܢܝܢܡ

•On Side B, the writing is upside down ܦܪܝܕܘܢ – ܒܟܐܒ ܢܙܢܝܢܡ.

The Assyrian text is a phonetic spelling of the song titles in Farsi not a direct translation, reflecting the bilingual lives of Iranian Assyrians at the time.

This vinyl is a rare piece of Iranian and Assyrian musical history, showcasing the cultural crossover during the golden era of Iranian rock and Garage Music — made even more unique by the misprinted Assyrian label.
