Description

Some discs with minor scratches but most without, condition between strong VG+ and VG++ with more discs in the latter category, some labels with handwritten ticks to show programs have been aired (I imagine) they are in fact the first 5 albums (10 sides) marked in such way (the labels of the first five albums have a slightly different and darker yellow print on the right hand side and are the ones lined up on the left of the photo,) all other labels clean and there are no other issues with any of them. All albums are straight - the box however has seen better days - all sides have collapsed, one off the top has detached. There are stains and handwriting WALT radio (I think) on the cover, the bottom has a tear in the black outside lining - I am not attempting to glue/tape/clean or fix in any way prior to shipping but will certainly try to ensure what is left of the shell arrives in same, not worse condition it is now.

Specifically as I believe the Patsy sides will be of most interest I will specify condition of discs and name a few songs on those. Record # 4B is VG++ with two hairline light, short scratches only. 1st program on side features Crazy and Walkin' After Midnight, last selection band three Lovin' In Vain. Disc 8 side A is visually solid VG++ with one extremely light short hairline scratch, side opener is When I Get Through With You, closer Seven Lonely Days.

There are three programs well over 4 min to near 5 min long on each side which consists of announcer T. Tommy talking between two selections each program by the artists. 17 artists are represented as Patsy/R. Drusky/Carl Smith/ get a double serve - that means 12 songs by them, 6 each from others. Artists in order from disc one side one: The Willis Brothers/Hawkshaw Hawkins/Cowboy Copas/Benny Martin/Carl Smith/Roy Drusky/Grady Martin/then 1st Patsy set/Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper/Faron Young/The Jordanares/Little Jimmy Dickens/Roy Drusky second set/Margie Bowles/Patsy second set/Webb Pierce/George Morgan/Carl Smith second set/Hal Willis/Ferlin Husky. There is a list of band lengths and artists (no titles) on the inside of the box for 'Vol II' albums 6 through 10 - there may have been two boxes for this set as 10 discs do not seem to fit into the box I have.

All artists are backed by a crack session band, live in the studio, without the 'sweetening' prevalent on some of the recorded output at the time. Many artists contributions in these particular versions may not have been re-released on CD in the past years.

PLEASE NOTE - I have set post charges INTERNATIONALLY at $40 on this sale but  you will actually be charged the EXACT COST of mail - this will require me to re-invoice with the correct mail charge once the auction is concluded so if you bid and require shipment outside of the US please wait for my invoice (not Ebay's automatic one) before paying. In most cases and certainly Canada/South America it will be far less but I reserve the right for international sale to also include item registration which is approx $10 extra from standard post. Please note I will make nothing on the postal charges so they will be as fair as USPS can make them! Good bidding and email any questions.
