Extremely rare original 1965 US first pressing of Albert Ayler Trio’s landmark Spiritual Unity, released on ESP-Disk (ESP 1002).
A highly sought-after piece of avant-garde/free-jazz history and one of the most important records ever released by ESP-Disk. Spiritual Unity was recorded in New York on 10 July 1964 with Albert Ayler (tenor saxophone), Gary Peacock (bass) and Sonny Murray (drums), and was issued in 1965.
This is the original US mono pressing, rather than one of the numerous later reissues. Early first-press copies are particularly desirable to collectors, especially those with the original silkscreen-style sleeve and the characteristic early pressing details. Surviving examples in genuinely strong condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Condition
Vinyl: Excellent – exceptionally clean example with only very light signs of handling/play.
Sleeve: Good – original sleeve with age-related wear consistent with a 1965 pressing.
