URIAH HEEP - " VERY 'EAVY, VERY 'UMBLE " , Vertigo Records Ltd. (6360 006) Stereo, 1970.

Very rare, 1970, English 1st pressing, LP issue of the classic debut Uriah Heep album.

Featuring the all-important laminated gatefold sleeve with 'VO PRICE CODE' on rear, Vertigo swirl label and inner sleeve.


Matrix numbers, etc.

SIDE A = 6360006 1Y//1 420 matrix, 1 1 10 stamper no.
SIDE B = 6360006 2Y//1 420 matrix, 1 1  3 stamper no.

English issue and pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)



CONDITION:

VINYL =  V.G. (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just a few light spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out a couple of more obvious but extremely shallow marks and a fair few other faint scuffs/hairline marks just visible on the vinyl's surface - although none of these seem to correspond directly to any audible defects. It generally plays pretty well, but there is some very faint occasional surface noise audible during the run-in, between tracks and some of the quieter sections. As the record played, I did hear the odd faint click or crackle in the background from time to time, but generally once the music kicks in that's all you can hear. Like so many LPs from this era, it has been very well pressed, with nice deep grooves in the first place and wears a few superficial marks much better than any lesser pressing could hope to. Even during 'Gypsy' where there are quieter sections, I was surprised how well this played... definitely a better than expected after seeing it in bright sunlight and on playback alone, it probbly would have sneaked a slightly higher grading.

Overall, although it is not quite perfect and I realise this will affect the value, it is by no means ruined by these minor imperfections and would still make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy - perfect copies of this LP exchange hands for a lot of money these days and although this is not one of those museum pieces, it is still a very serviceable copy that would be great for somebody out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intented.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)


SLEEVE = V.G.+ (No rips, tears, huge creases, defacing, etc. But had to be marked down quite a bit for general wear and a few very slight creases in the laminate - see photos for further clarification)
